Situated on the edge of a private lake near the Cotswold Water Park, The Lake House is the realisation of a lifelong dream for James Edmondson.

His father bought the land in the eighties when it was still a disused gravel pit, transforming it over time into the beautiful nature reserve it is today. 

After a short career in banking, James joined his father in running the lakeside-based family business, Log House Holidays. 

The Lake House – two connected barn-style buildings that form James and partner Sophie's family home – make the very most of the stunning lake views from all sides.

We stopped by to take a look around the home’s hub – the open-plan kitchen and living room. 

The space comprises three distinct areas: one for cooking, one for eating and one for unwinding. 

James chose traditional, locally made Shaker-style cabinetry by Hush Kitchens to fit with the rustic feel of the house. 

Central to the design is a sociable island featuring a crisp white quartz work surface and our Antique Brass sockets; the ideal place for food preparation and informal meals alike. 

Neutral tones including grey porcelain tiles and off-white walls offset the green painted cabinetry, while a combination of our Kilburn knobs (including on a pair of pull-out chopping boards) and Sycamore handles in Antique Brass add a little classic character.
